Hardly a day goes by without a Taylor Swift reference these days. I am not a fan of her music, yet I am finding myself a big fan of how she connects with her audiences. This will be, probably, my one and only post about Taylor Swift. She might do something huge in terms of audience engagement, so I can’t make any promises.

Here is a list of Taylor Swift’s acts of audience appreciation that have been in the news:

  • She responds to her fans on social media: Taylor Swift Responds To A Fan’s Emotional Tumblr Post

  • She sent Christmas care packages to her biggest fans
  • She takes selfies with her fans
  • She asked her fans to star in her music video for ‘Shake it Off’
  • She gave a fan $1989 to help pay off their student loan
  • She flew to Ohio to attend a fan’s bridal shower
  • She invited fans to her house to listen to the new album, pizza and other fun activities included
  • She provides fun gifts at her concerts such as light up bracelets
  • She invites YouTube fans to her shows: Taylor Swift invites boy with autism to show after he plays awesome ‘1989’ medley
  • She provides fan love through videos and social media posts
  • She stands up for her fans publicly

No wonder Swift has one of the largest fan bases, ever. She treats her fans well and is always grateful for them and to them.

I have to say it, we can learn a thing or two about how to treat audiences from her example. You see, it is not only about the art, it is about the connection with our audiences.

What have you done lately to show appreciation for your audiences? How are you connecting with them daily?

Cheers to happy and loyal audiences,
Shoshana

“I booked a series of phone sessions with Shoshana because I think in order for record companies and booking agents to take us seriously we need to have a certain number of fans that we have a great relationship with who consistently come to our shows. Shoshana helped me to channel certain hazy focuses I had into more solid avenues. I also learned more about my goal, what we really want to do with our music, and how we want to affect people. We are now building a relationship by finding out what people like and want so we can see through their eyes. Shoshana’s sessions were fantastic- she followed up and she even helped promote!” —Chantelle Tibbs
