#mylifeonarts

I have been debating whether or not to write this post.  I was thinking, perhaps an organic approach would be best. The reason I made the decision to write about this project is for the plain and simple fact of inviting you to be a part of this too.

A thought popped into my head about a week ago.  What if I were to document my life on arts one tweet or FB post at a time?  What if I used a simple hashtag to categorize these posts?  The hashtag #mylifeonarts came to me.

You see, arts advocacy will not work unless people realize that the arts are a part of their daily lives.  What better way is there to prove that the arts surround us, make our lives better, etc. than to document it every day!

I invite you, dear reader, to become a part of this project.  All it takes is to tweet, FB post, Instagram (or insert other social media avenue) an instant of your day when the arts contributed to your life, and of course use the hashtag #mylifeonarts.  It would be great to see this hashtag trending or at least become a daily occurrence in the grand scheme of our social media culture.

I hope you will join me. We can start a new way of thinking about the arts, if we can finally prove that the arts are a big part of our lives on a daily basis.

Update! For the month of February, I am attempting to contribute at least once per day to the #mylifeonarts hashtag. Join me and view it unfold at Storify.

Cheers to happy and loyal audiences,
Shoshana

Colleen Tucker

“As an individual fine artist, the Audience Development workshop helped me take a hard look at how to reach people and how to keep them engaged. Performing artists have a built in "paying audience" which may be obvious but for me I have to generate my patrons one at a time. Finding a way to interest people in my art is a full time job; I found helpful tools that I had not considered during the workshop.” —Colleen Tucker, Pastel artist
