Arts Solutions or Case Studies?

Posted by Shoshana
· Wednesday, December 12th, 2018

Happy hump day! I have a few thoughts brewing, but I wanted to ask you a question. Do you think our arts industry needs a book about audience development case studies, or one about arts solutions and community outreach?

I am thinking about my next book project, and I want it to be useful to you.

Please do let me know by replying to this post, or you can email me at ads(at)buildmyaudience(dot)com, or use the Twitter Poll below.

Thank you, dear reader, and I look forward to hearing from you!

A poll! Which book should I create next? Which is more helpful for the #arts industry? Case Studies on Audience Development or Arts Solutions and Community Outreach. Please vote. Thanks!

I think a ‘how to’ book on marketing and audience development for theaters would be most helpful. It should be divided (or a three-volume book) into large, medium, and small-sized theater companies.

Hi Michael, Thank you for adding your two cents. I think you are correct! If I were to undertake this project, I most certainly would collaborate with some of the wonderful theater people I have met over the years. I especially know we need audience development information for medium and small-sized companies. Most of the time, I am seeing books that cater to the larger companies, and it may not translate. Thanks again, and have a great weekend!

Testimonials

Barbara A. Hardesty

“I enjoyed the workshop. I liked the history [of the audience] to put it in context and to emphasize that we desperately need to return to participation/interaction. I liked having a hand-out to refer back and a few samples of positive case studies. I also thought the brainstorming session was a great eye-opener for many people - how fast can a small group come up with basic ideas!!” —Barbara A. Hardesty, Founder of Da Vinci Capers
