Focus on the smaller picture for audience building

Posted by Shoshana

Please forgive me if I mentioned this thought before. I am seeing that people sometimes focus on the forest more than the trees, which can prevent them from getting started on something important, such as audience development.

It is great to have a big picture in your head, but it can get overwhelming with thinking about everything that needs to be done to make the bigger picture happen.

Maybe it is best to set an intention, focus on one tree, and by seeing this small picture, you can take the small step to get started towards the bigger goal.

This idea also carries over to resources. You don’t need all the money for the bigger goal to get started on the smaller ones towards the finish line.

Just begin with focused intention, but just begin…

Audience development works, but only if you get started.

Cheers to happy and loyal audiences,
Shoshana

Testimonials

Arizona Women’s Theatre Company (AZWTC)

“I loved the sessions and as I was taking them for my newly elected position, I felt I needed some close mentoring and strict goal setting..She absolutely did listen to our needs and tailored her sessions to fit our little situation. I have bragged about the sessions to other admins in our areas. Some of the instructions were familiar as I had followed her ideas for some time. Most are obtainable over time and will be implemented this coming year as we finish our season. My time with Shoshana at ADS, I would rate it First Class!” —Joy Bingham Strimple, Board President
