Blizzards and audience development

ShovelHelp

During this week, I was involved in a blizzard. Yes, where I live is extreme Colorado living. I was trapped for 2.5 days with more snow coming on its way. My driveway is a beast! Last round it took me 6.5 hours to shovel myself out over 2.5 days. This time, with the snow being super wet and heavy, I needed some help. I had to get out since my food was starting to run low.

I posted on Facebook, and immediately some friends were offering advice. I had a friend ask two of his friends to come out last night to do a round of shoveling (after I had already done 2 rounds). This morning, two more friends came out to help me finish up so I could get my car out.

So, what does this have to do with audience development? Like the layers of the snow, the layers of friendships helped get me out of the driveway. Audience development builds relationships to the point of building these layers of relationships. You are broadening and diversifying your circles every time someone in your circle reaches out to other people.

I am so grateful for these layers of friendships. I was almost down to a measly tuna surprise dinner and protein powder shakes for food.

I get by from a little help from my friends, and you will too if you do your audience development work!

Cheers to happy and loyal audiences,
Shoshana

Virtuoso Voices

“We had an enormously productive session with Shoshana Fanizza of Audience Development Specialists, discussing both long and short term strategies for marketing, outreach and audience development. In addition to recommending several new strategies, which we plan to incorporate into our marketing and outreach efforts, she showed us ways to refine and enhance what’s already working so that it will reach even further. Shoshana is knowledgeable, prepared and a total professional. We won’t hesitate to call on her again.” —David Srebnik and Cynthia May Listener Directed Productions, Inc – producer of Virtuoso Voices
