Feeling the arts again

I am working on a new presentation about the magic of audience development. I hope to unveil this one soon, either via a conference, workshop, or a webinar. The presentation leads to a final conclusion, which I will share with you…feeling the arts again!

We did ourselves in with the elitism. We expected that placing an advertisement to get them to come to our venue would be enough. Our arts are worthy of this type of attention. Right? Well, this has not been the case. We all know about our changing world. The world went on to care about other forms of entertainment and community events. The arts were left behind.

There is hope though. The arts community project revolution is happening. I just read about one this morning.  These are projects that help solve community problems, human problems. We now have grants that are spearheading this direction of community development. The main factor is, with these types of projects, the arts will become inserted back into our communities (instead of the elite, come to us mentality of yesteryear).

I am filled with excitement, joy, love, and passion for this direction. You see, once we are back among the people in the community, doing good, people are going to feel the benefit of the arts again. They will feel the value of the arts. The arts help heal, create positive economic impact, beautify our areas, increase learning abilities, and add spice to life every day for the people of our communities. There are also the intrinsic, personal values that are difficult to gauge, but when people feel the arts again, they will also be aware of the intrinsic impacts as well!

Can you tell how jazzed I am about all of this? The magic of audience development can get us there – connecting and collaborating with our communities to show our care for humanity. See what I just did – I inserted the 4 C’s!

So while I am working on the full presentation, I hope you will think about the enormity of the power of inserting the arts back among the people, back into our communities. Projects for getting us back into education is just scratching the surface.

With our creative minds, anything and everything is possible!

Cheers to happy and loyal audiences,
Shoshana

“Shoshana’s orchestration of her workshops is a good demonstration of audience development in action. People mentioned to us they heard from her the next day to thank them for coming. I think that’s an unusual and pleasing post-workshop experience!” —Charlotte LaSasso, Communications Director
