Teaming up with your local library is good audience development!

Today I was pleasantly surprised to see an audience development news item from my own neck of the woods. Our public library has teamed up with various arts organizations to provide a format that is a win-win situation. The library offers quality, free performances for the community and the arts organizations and artists have a venue for a quality audience development opportunity. Check it out:

The monthly lunchtime classical concert series at the Boulder Public Library has been such a success the past two years, Boulder Arts Commission Program Director Donna Gartenmann wanted to bring a similar monthly theater program to the library.

This Thursday, the inaugural First Thursday Lunchtime Theater Series takes its bow.

If you have not teamed up with your local library, maybe it’s time to do so!

Until next time, may your audiences be happy and loyal ones, and if they are not, feel free to contact me!

We’ve begun looking for more sites for outreach performances, and I don’t know that anyone had thought of libraries yet. What a good idea! And especially for lunchtime concerts. Our main repertoire, Gilbert & Sullivan, adapts very well to condensation to half-hour “pocket” versions. Definitely something we’ll explore!
