A Case for Audience Development - A Three Part Workshop Series
Audience and Patron development are the hot topics for artists and arts organizations. We all want our work to be seen and we want to get paid for it! Audience Development Specialists in collaboration with Boulder County Arts Alliance present a three-part series of workshops to address cost effective ways to build a better audience and create a larger fan or patron base.

Part I: All About Audience Development – Beyond Cheeks in Seats
Audience Development is much more than cheeks in seats. In this workshop, you will learn what audience development is, how it differs from marketing, and why it is important for every artist and arts organization. But wait there's more! You will also get a perspective on various audience development programs, a short history of the audience through the ages, and how to start an audience development plan. Come away from the workshop with case studies outlining successes in broadening audiences. Begin your own audience development plan for yourself or your organization.

Testimonials:

"Thank you, for the workshop! I think you're really onto something here."

-Claire Patton, Artistic Director, Quake Theater

"THANK YOU. It was very informative."

-Jerrie Hurd, Author and Photographer

"As an individual fine artist, the Audience Development workshop helped me take a hard look at how to reach people and how to keep them engaged. Performing artists have a built in "paying audience" which may be obvious, but for me I have to generate my patrons one at a time. Finding a way to interest people in my art is a full time job; I found helpful tools that I had not considered during the workshop. I will attend the next two workshops in the series because any suggestions can only help me enhance my public persona. Thank you Shoshana Fanizza and Boulder County Arts Alliance."

-Colleen Tucker, Pastel Artist

"I enjoyed the workshop. I liked the history [of the audience] to put it in context and to emphasize that we desperately need to return to participation/interaction. I liked having a hand-out to refer back and a few samples of positive case studies. I also thought the brainstorming session was a great eye-opener for many people - how fast can a small group come up with basic ideas!!"

-Barbara A. Hardesty, Founder, Da Vinci Capers

Part II: Deepening – Experience is the Difference
This workshop focuses on ways to deepen your audience’s experience ensuring that they will become more involved! Learn an assortment of ways you can increase audience participation including using the latest technological tools. If you are looking to build your patrons, memberships, volunteers, donors, board members or fans, this is the workshop for you!

Part III: Diversify Your Life to Diversify your Audience
Diversification is good for the soul as well as good for your audience. In the final workshop, we will explore the markets available to Boulder County and discuss how to invite these new markets to join our arts communities. There will be an emphasis on the various ways to collaborate with other artists and organizations. This is the workshop to learn how to reach out to new audiences and to keep them coming back for more!
